Think about or discuss with your partner/group what you consider to be a sport.
Watch this video below. Discuss what is their definition of sport? Do you agree? Can you think of any examples of sport that does not fit in with this definition?
Humans are likely to have almost always engaged in sporting activities to pass the time. Can you find examples of sport from ancient history? Are there any modern sports you can think of which are not included in the above video?
What reasons can you give for taking part in sport? Discuss with a partner.
Now watch this video:
Are there any reasons which are similar to yours? Did it include anything new you hadn't considered? Did it have anything missing from your list?
You will often be making videos as a way of assessing your learning in PE free learning units.
Make a video of yourself showing that you have a good understanding of the following:
What is a definition of sport?
What examples of sport do you know?
What reasons are there for taking part in sport? Give as many reasons as you can.

Today, I learned about the basics and what is sport, I used a google doc to make notes don't the two videos. Lastly, I made recorded myself and answers all the answers to finish up the unit.

Excellent work, Ethan. Your notes and reflection on this unit are much more thorough; look at the quality of the work you are able to produce when you are focused! I particularly like the intonation of your voice on your recording - very professional and engaging!

Know much more clearly about sport

You've provided a fairly straightforward definition of sports and identified some of their physical and social benefits. I'd like to see you working towards greater depth and detail in your outcomes and reflections. What next?

We learn what is sport
Teacher Comment
A reasonable video explaining what sport is at a basic level. In these learning outcomes I'd like to see you pushing yourself towards greater depth and detail. Your student comment doesn't show much in the way of genuine reflection. Finishing units is important, but finishing them well is even more so.

Now I understand what sport is and why people do sport.
Teacher Comment
Your video shows a good understanding of three important reasons to do sport. You could have delved more deeply into different types of sport and perhaps considered the way different sports might offer their players different benefits. Make sure you engage full with all the requirements of the task and ask if you are unsure!
