The English and Media Teacher is a caring and skillful educator who is confident when working with students from Years 7 to 13 with a range of learning and behavioural profiles. He or she works closely with the Head of English and the Head of Performing and Visual Arts to maximise opportunities for learning.

The candidate will:

Teaching

  • Model a genuine love of English and Media in a way that excites, engages and resonates with adolescents.
  • Provide frequent, authentic opportunities to conduct subject-related visits, exploration, and experiential learning outside the classroom..
  • Plan and teach Year 7 to 9 English, Years 7 and 8 Media, and BTEC Level 2 Creative Media courses.
  • Develop and make use of relevant teaching plans and teaching materials.
  • Complete all paperwork required for taught classes in a timely manner, including any relevant reports and assessments.
  • Participate in and contribute to departmental and, where appropriate, schoolwide curriculum and professional development.
  • Attend and contribute to parent-teacher consultations.

School-wide Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in Deep Learning and Deep Learning+ week (see school website for details).
  • Lead and participate in school activities and the coaching of sports teams.
  • Attend and contribute to ongoing professional development.
  • Act as a Form Tutor.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Media or a related subject.
  • Experience in teaching English and Media at IGCSE and/or BTEC Level 2 preferred.
  • Native English speaker with experience in an international school is highly preferred.
