It has become fashionable to use quadcopters to produce aerial video, and the effect is really cool. Your challenge in this unit is to hack together another means to produce a aerial photo or video.

  • There are many ways to make something fly, or rise up into the sky.
  • Use your imagination to come up with a device which:
    • Allows you to create an aerial photo or video from a moving platform.
    • Does not damage the camera
    • Does not put by standers in risk
    • Captures a relatively stable image.
  • One approach is shown in the video below:

  • Use your imagination, and search for inspiration online.
  • When you are ready build and test your system.
  • Once you perfect it, take your shots.

Finishing Up
  • Take your aerial shots, and combine them using iMovie.
  • Add photos, videos and text explaining how you got the shots.
  • Add music, transitions, titles and credits.
  • Add a CC license and attribution.
  • Export the video to a shareable format.
  • Submit the exported video to Gibbon as your evidence.
